Netcool Probe Discards
When monitoring a Netcool® environment, Abilisoft MTM tells you how many events are being processed by the various Netcool Probes that are deployed. But this does not include those alarms that the Probes are discarding. This is important information when determining the current performance of the ObjectServer component.

To allow you to fully understand the levels of performance of your individual Netcool Probes. this Abilisoft solution includes a small block of code that can be inserted into any Probe rules file. This rules file change enables Abilisoft MTM to detect the number of events being discarded by the Probe. Abilisoft MTM will monitor each Probe, and count the number of events that have been discarded in the last sixty seconds.

This information is crucial to allow you to understand the capacity of individual Netcool Probes, and invaluable when you are planning to introduce additional capacity into your Netcool® environment to cope with increased event flow.
